Resolution No.8 S. 2005
A resolution acknowledging the invaluable contributions of the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan to the growth of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats; citing the exemplary leadership of DPP as CALD Chair Party; and congratulating H.E. President Chen Shui-bian for his inspired and dynamic leadership.

Resolution No.7 S. 2005
CALD Resolution expressing concern over the rising threat of emergency rule in the Philippines and calling on the government to respect basic civil liberties, the separation of powers and the right to peaceful assembly and other rights embodied in the Philippine Constitution.


Resolution No.6 S. 2005
Noting that the Singapore Government has been investigating Martyn See for making the Singapore Rebel, a film about Singapore Democratic Party's Secretary-General Chee Soon Juan, and that See has been called up for questioning by the police on two occasions and that his filmmaking equipment has been seized.


Resolution No.5 S. 2005

CALD Resolution expressing its commitment to the Win with Women Global Action Plan and to the implementation of the plan’s four-point agenda; enjoining its member parties without a women’s wing to establish one; and committing itself to the creation of a CALD’s women’s wing in order to pursue the objectives of the said action plan and to further promote women’s participation and empowerment.


Resolution No.4 S. 2005

CALD Resolution expressing its profound condolences to the family of the late Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar and to the people of Sri Lanka; enjoining the international community to denounce in the strongest terms his senseless and brutal murder and its perpetrators; and condemning the use of violence and other acts of terrorism in Sri Lanka and the rest of world


Resolution No.3 S. 2005

CALD Resolution expressing approval that Myanmar will not assume the chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2006; congratulating parliamentarians and NGOs worldwide—in particular from ASEAN member countries—for their steadfast commitment and action towards Burmese democratization; reiterating its call for the immediate and unconditional release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and other political prisoners; and reaffirming its commitment  to the cause of Burmese freedom  and democracy

CALD Resolution regretting the endorsement of non-peaceful measures in the passage of the Anti-Secession Law by China’s National Peoples Congress, and calling on a peaceful resolution of differences across the Taiwan Strait

CALD Resolution welcoming and celebrating the release of   Malaysia’s former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, wishing for the recovery of Mr. Anwar’s health and noting this positive development  as a victory for the cause of Asia’s democracy

CALD Resolution congratulating Apirak Kosayodhin for his victory as Bangkok Governor  and noting the victory of the Democrat Party of Thailand as a triumph of liberal and democratic principles


Resolution No.6 S. 2004

CALD Resolution congratulating Their Excellencies Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Noli de Castro on their election as President  and Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines; commending the Liberal Party for its electoral successes and its role in the presidential campaign; and expressing confidence about a new era of development and further democracy in the archipelago


Resolution No.5 S. 2004

CALD Resolution congratulating the Barisan National, particularly the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia, for its victory in the 2004 General Elections


Resolution No.4 S. 2004

CALD Resolution congratulating the Uri Party for its recent victory in the 2004 elections; expressing confidence in the people of Korea for their commitment to political reform;  and acknowledging the recent South Korea elections as another triumph for the cause of freedom and democracy in Asia


Resolution No.3 S. 2004

CALD Resolution congratulating the Democratic Progressive Party and Their Excellencies Chen Shui-bian and Annette Lu for their re-election as President and Vice President of Taiwan;  expressing relief for the safety of Mr. Chen and Madam Lu; conveying its hope for a peaceful resolution of the post-election tensions; and expressing confidence that the new mandate will give the DPP the opportunity to further advance its programs and reforms towards the path to full democratization for the benefit of the people of Taiwan

A resolution recognizing the  contributions of the Democrat Party of Thailand (DP) in the establishment and progress of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD); acknowledging the dynamic leadership of DP as CALD Founding Chair Party from 1993 to 1995 and as Chair Party from 2002 to 2004; and, congratulating outgoing chairperson M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, MP for his inspired leadership, vision and commitment to the further growth of the organization and the advocacy of democracy in the region

Resolution No.5 S. 2002

A resolution congratulating Mr. Roh Moo-hyun and the Millennium Democrat Party (MDP) for their  victory in the recent Korean presidential elections; expressing its confidence in Mr. Roh especially in terms of ensuring peace in the Korean peninsula; celebrating with the People of Korea the blessings of democracy; and wishing for continued and  closer cooperation between Mr. Roh and the MDP, and CALD in the future towards common aspirations for peace and democracy in the region


Resolution No.4 S. 2002

A resolution expressing concern over the arrest and conviction of Dr. Chee Soon Juan and Mr. Gandhi Ambalam and continued detention of Dr. Chee, and strongly urging the Government of the Republic of Singapore to reaffirm its commitment to the fundamental principles contained in the Constitution of Singapore and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to which Singapore is a signatory


Resolution No.3 S. 2002

A resolution expressing  concern regarding the apparent bias of the National Election Commission (NEC) of Cambodia in favor of the ruling party, condemning the violence of the Commune Council Elections of 2002 and expressing support for the Sam Rainsy Party's proposals for the 2003 Legislative Election


Resolution No.2 S. 2002

A resolution celebrating the birth of East Timor as an independent nation, expressing solidarity with the people of East Timor in their effort to rebuild democratic institutions and to revive its ailing economy, expressing congratulations to HE Xanana Gusmao and other leaders of the 192nd nation of the world, expressing appreciation to the United Nations for its various roles leading to the independence and self-determination of the East Timorese and acknowledging the responsibility of the international community of nations in the protection of the universal and fundamental rights of peoples all over the world


Resolution No.1 S. 2002

A resolution expressing cautious optimism over the release of Daw Aung Suu Kyi from house arrest; supporting the recommendations of United Nations and supporting the continued struggle of the people of Burma and the ongoing engagement of the United Nations, global civil society movements, international members of parliament and other pro-democracy advocates towards Burma's return to democracy and reintegration to the international community
