Just as the DNA double helix contains information that determines the essence and being of an organism, Asia in a double helix symbolizes the attempt to understand the continent and its people—including the ailments, particularly poverty, that inflict them. And inasmuch as the DNA double helix transfer such information from one generation to another, the logo underscores efforts to share formulas and “best practices” for development from amongst the participants.(Design concept by John Coronel; Design execution by Angelico Mercader/Manila, May 2003)
