Resolution No. 1 S. 2008
CALD unflinchingly affirms the ideals of democracy and the rule of law and calls on the SPDC to end the political oppression in Burma and take the path of democratic rule and respect for human rights

Resolution No. 5 S. 2007
CALD deploring the current spate of violence in Burma and the continued and unabated suppression of the Burmese people who have been deprived of their basic rights and freedoms for several decades now

Resolution No. 4 S. 2007
CALD resolution reviewing its laws and legal processes that militate against freedom of expression and to encourage its citizens to engage in the promotion of democracy and justice without fear of reprisal


Resolution No. 3 S. 2007
CALD resolution urging the LTTE to return to negotiations under the auspices of the Ceasefire Facilitators and the Co-Chairs, and to cease from attacks on economic targets, etc.

CALD resolution recognizing Mr. John Coronel’s exemplary performance and dedicated service as CALD Executive Director

Resolution No. 1 S. 2007
CALD resolution expressing its confidence that, with the ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal, the Democrat Party’s legacy of democratic tradition will continue to flourish and contribute to the development of Thailand and its people;  reiterating its belief that political parties are indispensable in any democratic country; and hoping for the immediate restoration of civilian rule in Thailand

Resolution No. 7 S. 2006
CALD resolution regretting the Singapore government’s decision to bar civil society representatives from attending the World Bank-IMF Summit; appealing to the Singaporean government for greater tolerance and transparency; and reaffirming its belief in the democratic principles of transparency, accountability, right to information and the freedom of expression and peaceful assembly

Resolution No. 6 S. 2006
CALD Resolution expressing disappointment over the painfully slow pace of Burma’s democratic transition and calling on the United Nations Security Council to act on the human rights violations and acts of aggression  committed by the military junta against ethnic minorities and Burmese members of the opposition

Resolution No. 5 S. 2006
CALD resolution regretting the practice of the Singapore government in disadvantaging opposition candidates in national elections through politically-motivated bankruptcy and urging the government to manage its elections independently of bias towards any particular party

Resolution No. 4 S. 2006
Noting the current controversy within the Liberal Party of the Philippines, the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats asserts its fullest confidence in the current leadership of CALD and believes that this leadership bests serves the interests of liberalism Asia at the current junction

Resolution No.3 S. 2006
CALD resolution requesting  the LTTE to resume negotiations with the Sri Lankan government as a matter of urgency; condemning the recent acts of terrorism, including attacks on service personnel at a period in which a ceasefire is in operation; and urging the international community, while making clear its condemnation of such terrorism, to ensure that the LTTE returns to negotiations and works together with GOSL within the parameters of the ceasefire signed in 2002 to promote a solution that ensures pluralism and democratic practice


Resolution No.2 S. 2006
CALD resolution expressing concern over the conviction and incarceration of Dr. Chee Soon Juan and relaying its support to Dr. Chee and the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP)

Resolution No.1 S. 2006
CALD resolution expressing its concern over the conviction of Cambodian opposition leader Sam Rainsy; calling upon the government of Cambodia to abide by democratic rights and principles embodied in its constitution and in various international conventions; reiterating its plea for the restoration of the parliamentary immunity of Cambodian oppositionists; and, echoing the calls for political tolerance and dialogue
