Geo-Sung KIM

Reverend Geo-Sung Kim is secretary general of Transparency
International - Korea. He is an ordained pastor of the
Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea. He has
worked for 26 years in various civil society
organizations, focusing on the areas of human rights,
reunification, and social reformation of Korea. He spent
two years in jail as the result of his involvement in the
resistance movement against dictatorship. Reverend Kim
studied theology and sociology at Yonsei University in
Seoul and received his degree of ThM at the graduate
school of Yonsei University in 1985. He studied North
Korea at the Graduate School of Policy Sciences in Hankuk
University of Foreign Studies and is currently studying
Christian Ethics in a ThD course at Yonsei University.

Rev. Kim was active in the Prime Minister's Commission on
Corruption Prevention Plan, the Civic Evaluation Committee
of Seoul Metropolitan Government, and the Program
Committee for Transparency International’s 11th
International Anti-Corruption Conference. He is also a
member of the Clean Procurement Committee of Public
Procurement Service of Korea and of the Board
Accreditation Committee of Transparency International.

Mr. Sei-Jean Koh is the executive secretary of the
Committee on International Relations for the Grand
National Party (GNP). He has also served as the director
general of the International Relations Bureau of the
party. Previously, he was a policy research consultant at
the National Assembly of Korea and a full-time instructor
at the Korea and Foreign Language Institute at Yonsei
University. Mr. Koh has worked as a consultant and
advisor for the New Korea Party, Democratic Liberal Party,
and Democratic Justice Party. Mr. Koh received his
Bachelor’s Degrees in electronic engineering and law from
Yonsei University and his Master’s Degree in language and
literature at the graduate school of Simultaneous
Interpretation and Translation, HFUS.

Dr. Kie-Duck Park is the vice-president and a senior
fellow of the Sejong Institute in Seoul. He obtained a
Bachelor’s Degree in political science from Seoul National
University, a Master’s Degree in international relations
from
Rice
University
in the United States, and PhD in comparative politics from
the
University
of
Chicago
in the United States. He also has served as the director
of the Committee for the Democracy Forum of the Sejong
Institute since 1998, in which capacity he has organized
international conferences on democracy, civil society,
governance, political parties, and political finance. Dr.
Park has authored and edited numerous publications and
articles on politics and political economy in Korea and
the Philippines, and on theories of democracy and
democratic governance. His major research areas include
comparative politics, theories of democracy, and political
economy of Korea and Southeast Asia, especially the
Philippines. His current research focuses on: civil
society in the context of democratic governance; the
political impact of the economic crisis in Korean and
other East Asian countries; and economic cooperation among
East Asian countries.

Won-Soon

Mr. Won Soon Park has served as the secretary-general of
PSPD (People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy)
since 1995. He is also currently the director of the
Executive Committee of PSPD and the executive director of
The Beautiful Foundation. He has previously served as the
director
of the Chung-Myung Foundation, the Korean Women's Hot
line, the Institute for Korean Historical Studies, and The
Hankyoreh Daily. He has also been a lecturer at Catholic
University and Sungkonghoe University in Korea. The
Citizen Times recognized him as the “1999 Distinguished
Citizen of Korean Civil Society.” He also received
recognition as one of the “10 Most Influential National
Leaders for the 21st Century" in The Weekly Sisa Journal
(1999) and as “Asia Star 50” in Business Week Asia
(2000). Mr. Park earned his Bachelor’s Degree in history
from Danguk University and a Diploma in international law
from the London School of Economics and Political Science
in England. He was a visiting fellow in the Graduate
School of Hanyang University in Korea and in the Human
Rights Program of Harvard University Law School in the
United States.

Hon. Jay Kun Yoo was elected to his second term in 2000 as
a member of the National Assembly of Korea representing
the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP). He is currently
chairman of the National Convention, and chairman of both
the Special Committee on Foreign Relations and Cooperation
and the Foreign Policy Advisory Council of the Millennium
Democratic Party. In addition, as chairman of the
US-Korea Inter-Parliamentary Exchange Council, he has
greatly contributed to the better understanding between
the legislatures of the two countries. Hon. Yoo also
serves as a senior foreign policy advisor to President Roh
Moo Hyun. Hon. Yoo received his Bachelor’s and Master’s
degrees in political science from the Yonsei University.
He also earned a Master’s of Science and PhD in Sociology
from Brigham Young University and the University of
Washington, respectively, in the United States. In
addition, he received a J.D. from the University of
California, Davis. After retiring from the Korean Air
Force as a First Lieutenant, he worked as a lawyer in Los
Angeles, a professor of law at Kyongwon University in
Korea, and a host for several famous Korean programs, such
as MBC Current Affairs Debate and KBS Midnight Talk Show.
He was also the CEO of Young Poong Corporation in Seoul.
