Observations and impressions

European Union has a distinct institutional system for example, European Parliament, Council of Ministers, European Commission, Court of Justice of the European Union. The European Parliament and Council of Ministers will adopt the Commission Proposal on European law and European Framework Law under the Legislative Acts. Due to transparency of proceedings, both the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers are obliged to meet in public when examining and adopting a legislative proposal.

As a result of this, press plays an important role on the transparency by reporting all information relevant to any action of European Union.

During my internship programme, there were many issues have been discussing in the European Parliament. However, I was mainly interested in the topics as follows:

-          EU summit on the ratification process for the EU constitution, discussing on the results of the French and Dutch referendum.
-          The EU action to promote an issues on Human Rights, Humanitarian, the Respective of Fundamental Right, the Fundamental Freedoms, Freedom to Speak in third countries following the basic principle of the liberals and democrats regime.
-          The contribution to the fight against terrorism by adopting the package of reports on measures to improve judicial, police, and financial cooperation in the European Union.

I have studied those topics through the participation in following Parliament’s activities.

-          Plenary session
-          The political groups study day
-          Public hearing
-          Delegation meetings
-          Press conference
-          ALDE group meeting
