Introduction  

Workshop Objectives

  • Review implementation of CALD’s communications strategy and – if considered necessary - update
  • Critically assess the usage of the internet by all CALD member parties and observer parties
  • Strengthen the network of media specialists of CALD member parties and expand this to selected members of YLDA
  • Present and share best practices (from Asia and Europe/North America) regarding the usage of the internet in political parties
  • Observe and understand the media environment in the host country Malaysia

Participants:

  • Media and/or Communications Officers of CALD member parties and observer parties who should be in charge for the internet strategies and website content of their respective organizations; proficiency in oral English is essential; the secretariat may conduct telephone interviews to assure the language competence.
  • Each member party or observer party with an active website will be represented by one delegate. In case the party has no active website yet and wishes to send a delegate, it should make a commitment to start a website within three months. In this endeavour, it may ask for the technical support of CALD and/or FNF Manila.
  • Member organizations of YLDA (Young Liberals and Democrats of Asia) with an active website (Nepal and Cambodia) as well as the program officer of that group.
