Burma

Chupho Wongphraison

Mr. Chupho Wongphraison is a student activist organizer for the Karen Student Network Group (KSNG) and the spokesperson of the Karen Youth Organization (KYO). He also worked as a journalist for KSNG and as a translator for the Karen Human Rights Group (KHRG). He finished a 10-month foreign affairs training course in Chiang Mai, Thailand and then worked with the National Endowment for Democracy (Burmese section) as an intern.

Cambodia

Heang Sophea

Mr. Heang Sophea is currently a member of the Kampong Cham province Council of the Sam Rainsy Party and in charge of the Koh sotin district. He is also an Education Project Manager at the Sharing Foundation and was Lecturer of English at Norton University. He received his Bachelor of Education in English at the Institute of Foreign Languages at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

Chhay Sarath

Mr. Chhay Sarath is currently Program Assistant for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) in Phnom Penh. He is responsible for their Youth and Women Caucus program. He was a Field Worker for Urban Poor Women Development.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Major in Tourism at the National Institute of Management in Phnom Penh.

Chhoeung Chanary

Ms. Chhoeung Chanary is currently Administrative Assistant to the Sam Rainsy Cabinet and is studying Banking and Finance at the Royal University of Law and Economics.

Ing Ratana

Ms. Ing Ratana is currently Assistant to the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Tourism. She received her degree in Economics at the Institute of Technology and Management in Phnom Penh

Ir Channa

Mr. Ir Channa is currently a member of the Administrative Staff of the Student’s Movement for Democracy and is studying History at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

Koy Kuong

Mr. Koy Kuong is currently working for the Council of Law, the Secretariat General of the Senate. Previously, he was with the Department of Procedure and was Vice President of the Khmer Nation Youth Movement of the Sam Rainsy Party. He received his Master of Development Administration at the Australia National University in Canberra, Australia.

Ky Wandara

Mr. Ky Wandara is currently the Party Councilor and Accounting Auditor of Siem Reap Province. He is a member of the Commune Development Committee of the Sam Rainsy Party. He was a Party Councilor of Phnom Penh and became member of the Sam Rainsy Steering Committee. He graduated with a Business Administration degree and is currently taking up Masters in Business Administration.

Pheng Vuthan

Ms. Pheng Vuthan is currently Program Assistant for the National Democratic Institute for International (NDI) in Phnom Penh. She is responsible for their Women Caucus program.

Sorn Dara

Mr. Sorn Dara is currently President of the Border Committee of the Student Movement for Democracy and an English teacher at the Norman Institute. He is also a Volunteer Drug Prevention educator for the Khmer Youth Association. He is a philosophy student at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

Srey Ratha

Ms. Srey Ratha is currently Administrative Assistant at the Sam Rainsy Cabinet. She finished a degree in General Administration.

Hong Kong

Wong Fung Chu

Ms. Wong Fung Chu is currently working as Assistant to a Legislative Councillor and is Member and Acting Secretary of the Standing Committee of the NT West Branch of the Democratic Party of Hong Kong. She was Chairman of the Youth Committee from 1998 to 2001. In 1999, she was a candidate for District Board Election. Ms. Wong earned her Economics degree from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She is currently taking her Masters Degree in Journalism in The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Indonesia

Abdul Kadir Karding

Mr. Abdul Kadir Karding is currently Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Fraction of the Provincial Parliament of Central Java. He is also Chief of the Student Association of the Diponegoro University and Coordinator of the Students and Civil Society Alliance of Semarang. He finished his degree at the Faculty of Fisheries of the University of Diponegoro and is currently studying his post-graduate degree there.

Ahmad Helmy Faishal Zein

Mr. Ahmad Helmy Faishal Zein is currently Chief of the Department of Organization and Youth at the Central Board of the National Awakening Party (PKB) and is the Secretary of the Department of Political Education. He was Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Council of National Coordination for PKB’s Student Movement and Editor in Chief of the “Merdeka” of Darul Ulum University in Jombang. Mr. Zein is also attending the Magister of Management Program of the University of Paramadina.

Korea

Kim, Hyo-eun

Mrs. Kim, Hyo-eun is currently the Section Chief of the Bureau of Planning of the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP). She also worked as educational assistant researcher for the Policy Planning Committee of MDP.  She was the section chief of the Policy Planning Committee and Bureau of Women’s Issues of the National Congress for New Politics. Mrs. Kim earned her Political Science & Diplomatics degree from Ewha Women’s University in Seoul and is currently finishing her Master’s degree in Public Administration at Seoul National University.

Macedonia

Emil Kirjas

Mr. Emil Kirjas is the President of the International Federation of International Youth (IFLRY). He is also the Head of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Office in Macedonia. He was Administrative Assistant in the European Youth Foundation, Solidarity Fund for Youth Mobility and Partnership Agreement of the European Community and the Council of Europe in the Field of Youth Training. Mr. Kirjas finished his degree in Engineering of Computer Sciences at the Sts. Cyril and Methodus in Skopje.

Malaysia

Vincent Hooi Wy-Hon

Mr. Vincent Hooi Wy-Hon is the National Youth Deputy Secretary-General of the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (PGRM). He was a member of PGRM’s National Youth Committee from 1998 to 2000. He is an advocate and solicitor by profession. He received his degree in Bachelor of Laws at the University of Tasmania in Australia.

Nepal

Rajendra Mulmi

Mr. Rajendra Mulmi is the President of the Youth Initiative, a youth-led and youth-run organization based in Kathmandu, Nepal. He was an Assistant Extension Coordinator of Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW), an international youth-focused organization dealing with development charity. He also worked as a Consultant for Save the Children USA in Nepal and as a Coordinator for the Nepal Youth Focused Development Initiative. Mr. Mulmi received his honours degree in Sociology and Economics. He is currently taking up his Masters in Sociology and Anthropology at Tribhuwan University in Kathmandu.

Philippines

Jonathan Malaya

Mr. Jonathan Malaya is a Member of the Pro-Tempore Coordinating Committee of the Young Liberals and Democrats of Asia (YLDA). He is President of the Liberal Caucus of Congressional Staff and Editor-in-Chief of Liberal Philippines, a quarterly political magazine in the Philippines. He is also Political Affairs Officer of Rep. Eduardo Nachura. He was Vice President for Students of the Young Liberals of the Philippines (KALIPI). He received his Bachelor’s Degree in English, Major in Creative Writing at the University of the Philippines.

Jan-Argy Tolentino

Mr. Jan-Argy Tolentino is currently Secretary-General and acting Executive Director of the Young Liberals of the Philippines (KALIPI) and Political Affairs Officer II to Rep. Rafael Nantes. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and is taking up his Bachelor’s degree in Law at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Singapore

Charles Tan

Mr. Charles Tan works as a Marketing Executive, an Editor and is a freelance writer. He attended the recent International Youth Conference on Democracy organised by the Singapore Democratic Party. He has a Diploma in Business Administration, Major in Public Relations and Advertising.

Sri Lanka

Sunil Witharanage

Mr. Sunil Witharanage is a Director of the Institute for Democracy & Leadership in Sri Lanka and the National Coordinator for the Liberal Youth Guilds (LYG). He is an Attorney-at-Law by profession. He received his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Colombo.

Taiwan

Tsung-ching Lee

Mr. Chung-ching Lee is a medical student of the National Yang-Ming University. He is the Editor in Chief of the Green Hope Magazine in Taipei Medical University. Currently, Mr. Lee works as an intern in the International Affairs Department of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Meng-chun Tsai

Ms. Meng-chun Tsai is Senior Specialist of the Chinese Affairs Department of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). She is the Executive Editor of Daily News Brief and the Cross-Strait Review. She worked as an assistant in the Legal Affairs department of Legislator Chang, Hsueh-Shun Office. She was an Assistant Research Fellow in the Policy Research Department of DPP and became a Research Fellow of the “New Era” Office, a caucus formed by ten DPP legislators.  Ms. Tsai received her Bachelor of Laws degree from Tanghai University.

United Kingdom

Oliver Wells

Mr. Oliver Wells is currently Vice President of the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY). He is responsible for relations to the United Nations, the IFLRY magazine, Libel, and a wide variety of national liberal youth organizations from Belarus to Japan. He is a fully qualified teacher of Information and Communication Technology along with Business and Citizenship to students, aged 11 to 18. He read Business at Sheffield University in the north of England.
