(August 13,
2007) Former Taiwanese Premier You Si-kun, Chairman of the
Democratic Progressive Party paid a courtesy visit to Former
Philippine Senate President, Franklin M. Drilon, CALD Chairman
and President of the Liberal Party (LP) at the LP Headquarters
in Manila last Friday.
The
high-level DPP delegation was accompanied by H.E. Wu Hsin-hsing,
Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in
Manila.
Messrs. You
and Drilon underscored the importance of the bilateral relations
between DPP and LP as sister parties through their memberships
in both CALD and Liberal International.
The meeting
was emceed by former MP, Dr. Neric Acosta, CALD and LP Secretary
General.
Ms.
Concepcion Asis, LP Director General gave a presentation of the
Liberal Party and its political plans. Former Senator and LP
President Wigberto Tanada, CALD Executive Director John Coronel
and Friedrich Naumann Foundation (Manila) Representative
Siegfried Herzog also gave brief remarks.
DPP
International Affairs Director Dr. Lai I-Chung extended DPP’s
invitation for Senator Drilon to speak during the LI Human
Rights Conference in Taipei this December. Senator Drilon
accepted the invitation.
The
other members of the DPP delegation are Mr. Lin-Yu-Chang,
Special
Assistant to the Chairman;
Mr. Meng Yi-Chao,
Director of the Department of Culture and Communications; Mr.
Lin Bing-Chung, Deputy Director
of the Department of Organizational Development; Mr. Hung
Pai-Liang,
Secretary to Chairman; Mr. Chen Chun-Liang, Secretary of the
Department of Culture and Communications and Mr. Roger Lee
Huang, Deputy Researcher of the Department of International
Affairs.
Hon. You
previously served as Office of the President’s Secretary
General, Executive Yuan Vice-Premier, Chairman of the Taipei
Rapid Transit Corporation and Taiwan Provincial Assemblyman. In
DPP, he was a former Secretary General and Chairman and
Spokesperson of the 2000 Presidential Elections Campaign
Headquarters. |
