(April
8, 2008/ Brussels, Belgium) Members of the European Parliament (MEPs)
and senior staff officials of the
Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) in the
European Parliament and Members of Parliament (MPs), party
leaders and senior staff officials from member parties and
observers of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD),
and participants from
Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, the Pacific,
Africa and the Caribbean
(ALDEPAC) will convene for a meeting on April 15-17, 2008 in
Brussels, Belgium to discuss Climate Change: Challenges and
Liberal Responses for Asia and Europe;
The Global Fight Against Human Trafficking and Child
Prostitution; and Liberal and Democrat Responses to Human
Dignity Challenges.
This
gathering would be the fourth meeting of ALDE and CALD after the
successful meeting in Manila, Philippines last June 2006. There
have been previous meetings in Brussels (2004), Seoul (2002) and
Brussels (2000) between European and Asian liberals.
These meetings are aimed at
discussing the challenges and opportunities for liberals in the
two continents and are organized in cooperation with the
Friedrich Naumann Foundation, the German foundation for liberal
politics.
As in
previous meetings, the venue will be held in the European
Parliament. Courtesy and consultative meetings in the European
Commission have also been scheduled. |
