CAMBODIA
Ms. Ly Srey Vyna, MD
Dr. Vyna is a member of the Sam Rainsy party (SRP)
cabinet. She is currently the assistant to the Secretary
General and the chief of the provincial working group of
SRP. She will be running for parliament in the 2008
national elections in Cambodia.
Mr. Sovann Yim, MP
Mr. Sovann is an elected member of parliament. He is a
member of the SRP Steering Committee and serves as the
Treasurer of their party.
INDONESIA
Ms. Verawati
Ms. Verawati is a member of the Indonesian Democratic
Party of Struggle (PDIP). She is also part of the GMNI
(Indonesian Nationalist Student Movement) and a party
cadre in Deputy Bureau 2 PDI Perjuangan.
JAPAN
Mr. Joe Nakano
Mr. Nakano is member of the Democratic Party of Japan. In
1994, he worked with the Foundation for International
Development and was in charge of the programs in Thailand,
Laos, Cambodia and Philippines. He was Director of the 12th
district in Saitama and was elected member of the 43rd
Parliament in 2003.
MALAYSIA
Mr. Tan Chuan Koon
Mr. Tan is a member of the Malaysian Peoples’ Movement
Party or Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (PGRM) and serves
in Publicity and Information Bureau. He is currently the
Press Secretary to the Minister of Energy, Water and
Communications who is also the President of PGRM.
Mr. Lim Si Pin
Mr. Lim is a member of PGRM and was elected as the
National Deputy Youth Chief of the Youth Movement for PGRM,
a component party within the National Front of the
Malaysian Government. He has participated in two national
elections as Deputy Director of Operations for one of the
parliamentary constituency in Malaysia.
PHILIPPINES
Mr. Henry Anden Bacurnay, Jr.
Mr. Bacurnay is a member of the Liberal Party of the
Philippines (LP). He has been elected as Provincial Board
member twice in La Union province. He served as the
Executive Director of the National Institute for Policy
Studies, the Philippine Liberal Think Tank which
administers LP’s overall program on political
and civic education, political dialogue, policy research,
documentation and publication. He is currently the
Deputy Director for Organization and Operations of LP,
managing the party’s membership and marketing.
Mr. Francisco Trinidad Sevilla, Jr.
Mr. Sevilla is the Provincial Director General of the
Liberal Party’s Quezon province Chapter. He was a campaign
manager for several prominent liberal legislators.
Currently, he is serving as the Legislative Staff Head in
the office of Congressman Rafael P. Nantes.
SINGAPORE
Mr. Yap Keng Ho
Mr. Yap is a member of the Singapore Democratic Party. He
had been an activist on internet since 1996. In 2004, He
found a movement known as Constitutional Amendment
Campaign which focuses on political reforms towards a free
Singapore. Mr. Yap takes part in Alliance for Reform and
Democracy in Asia (ARDA) and World Forum for
Democratization in Asia (WFDA) activities and conducts web
based surveys such as Asia Democracy index.
SOUTH KOREA
Mr. Yeong Sul Kim
Mr. Kim is a member of the Uri Party, the ruling party in
Korea. He was the Director of internet communication
committee of the 17th presidential election. He
is currently serving as the Vice-Secretary General of
their party.
Mr. Pyong-Soo Lee
Mr. Lee is the Director of foreign relations office of Uri
party. He worked as a reporter before in The Hankook llbo
and Korea Times. He was also the Chief Vice-spokesman of
the New Millennium Democratic party and the Uri party.
SRI LANKA
Mr. Jainudeen Cassim
Mr. Cassim is a member of the Liberal Party of Sri Lanka.
He is an organizer for the Trincomalee district where he
builds the party’s membership and coordinates the party
lists in their area. He is also a member of the Liberal
party’s National Executive Council.
Mr. Vaithlingam Shanmuganathan
Mr. Shanmuganathan is a member of the Liberal Party’s
national committee and is working as an organizer for the
Nuwara Eliya district in the central province of Sri
Lanka. He is also the Secretary General of the Liberal
Democratic Workers Union.
THAILAND
LCdr. Sutham Rahong
Mr. Sutham is the Assistant to the Secretary-General of
the Democrat party. He was a member of the military and
was a former Member of Parliament in Samut Sakhon
district.
Ms. Sirinun Senakant
Ms. Senakant has been a member of the Bangkok Committee of
the Democrat Party of Thailand since 1996. She has twice
run as a MP candidate representing the Democrat Party in
Bangkok. She was an advisor to the Finance Committee in
parliament from 1997 to 2000. Prior to her work in
parliament, she worked for Loxley International and Tisco
Financial Company Ltd. Currently, she sits as a deputy
secretary to Democrat party's Bangkok Election Committee.
