Henedina Razon-Abad, MP

Philippines
Henedina Razon-Abad is the Congressional Representative
of the lone district of Batanes in the Philippines. She
has been actively involved in Metro Manila public
affairs for many years. She is the Vice President for
Sectors of the Liberal Party and Chair of the CALD
Women’s Caucus. Abad was the former dean of Ateneo de
Manila University’s School of Government and remains a
member of the faculty. She was a teaching assistant at
Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of
Government where she received her Master’s in Public
Administration.

Saumura Tioulong, MP
Cambodia
Madam Tioulong obtained her MBA as well as her
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the
University of Paris. She later started her successful
business career in Paris. From 1993 to 1995, she became
the Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia.
Madam Tioulong has been supporting the democratic
development in Cambodia since she was in Paris. She
was an elected parliamentarian from Phnom Penh since
1998.

Malaysia
Senator Rhina Bhar obtained her Diploma in International
Relations at the University College London and a
Barrister-at-Law degree at Gray’s Inn at the Royal Court
of Justice in London, England. She is also a strong
supporter of the Women's Centre for Change in Penang, a
non-profit organization set up in 1985 to help women and
children facing crisis, irrespective of race, religion
or social background.

Kasit Piromya

Mr.
Kasit Piromya, was the former Ambassador of the Kingdom
of Thailand to the United States of America from 2004 to
2005. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in the School
of Foreign Service in Georgetown University in 1968 and
a Diploma in International Relations at the Institute of
Social Studies in the Hague, Netherlands in 1971. His
previous posting as Thai Ambassador includes the
following countries: Russian Federation (formerly Soviet
Union), People’s Republic of Mongolia, Republic of Papua
New Guinea, Federation Republic of Germany, and Japan.

Willa Chandra Supriandi, MP

Madame Willa Chandra Supriandi is representing Bandung
Regency, West Java. She is a member of Parliament
Commission VIII dealing with religion, people’s welfare
and women empowerment. She is also a member of the
Central Board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle or PDIP for the Legal and Law Section of the
Central Research and Development. Madame Willa Chandra
Supriandi, a professor by nature, teaches at the
Parahyangan Catholic University.

Professor Cecep Syarifuddin is a Member of Parliament
representing the Nation Awakening Party or PKB. He is
also the Dean of Faculty of Islamic Education at the
State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) in Bandung
Indonesia. He is also a member of the National Research
Board (Dewan Riset National) and the People Consultancy
Assembly.

Badyiyah Fayumi, MP

Mrs.
Badyiyah Fayumi, is a Member of Parliament representing
the Nation Awakening Party or PKB. She is also a member
of the Parliamentary Commission VII on religion,
people’s welfare and women. She is currently the
Vice-Chair II of the PKB for the women’s movement, the
Vice Chair of the party’s advisory board and its
secretary.

Mr.
Von Welck is the Regional Director for East and
Southeast Asia of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation based
in Bangkok, Thailand. From 1998 to 2005 he was the FNF
Regional Director for South Asia based in Delhi, India.
He has worked in the FNF head office in Germany as Head
of the Human Resources, Assistant to the Deputy Chairman
and Head of the International Affairs Programmes. He was
FNF Project Director for Zimbabwe and South Africa and
Program Officer of the Africa Project. He received his
Master in Public Administration at the University of
Konstanz, Germany.

John Joseph S. Coronel
CALD Secretariat
Mr.
Coronel is the Executive Director of the Council of
Asian Liberals & Democrats, a position he held since
CALD opened its permanent secretariat in Manila in
2000. Mr. Coronel previously served as Vice President
of the Philippine liberal think tank, the National
Institute for Policy Studies; consultant of Amnesty
International; and consultant of Philippine Senate
Majority Leader Senator Francis P.N. Pangilinan. He has
been involved in various electoral campaigns in the
local and national levels. He studied at the University
of the Philippines and the University of Hawaii where he
was a scholar of the East West Center.

Carlo Religioso
CALD Secretariat
Mr. Religioso is the newest CALD Program Officer. Prior to
his CALD posting, he was with the Japan International
Cooperation Agency (JICA) Philippine Office as Program
Assistant of the administration section. He has
participated in different trainings and conferences held
in Lithuania, United Kingdom, France, Cyprus and the
Czech Republic. Mr. Religioso finished his Bachelor of
Arts major in Consular and Diplomatic Affairs at the La
Salle University, College of St. Benilde in 1999. |
